If you’re not trekking with us, however, minimal food is a reality you have to prepare yourself for. The bad: It is not easy to get good food at high altitudes. First, it’s difficult to take provisions up to remote locations (there’s always a weight constraint). Second, it takes very long to cook anything in low temperatures and high altitudes. Synthetic or Cotton Pants? Here, again, avoid cotton pants in winter. You’re going to be trekking in snow and perhaps sliding in snow. If your pants get wet, they need to dry quickly. Here, two things are important: (a) protecting your eyes and (b) protecting your skin. Unknown to most, our eyes are prone to sunburns as much as our skin is.
